An 84-year-old man died and an 83-year-old woman was left in critical condition following an early morning fire at a four-storey apartment building on Fennell Avenue East near Upper Ottawa Street on March 26, 2026. Hamilton Fire crews contained the blaze to a single fourth-floor unit at 1266 Fennell Avenue East, and the Ontario Fire Marshal has been called to investigate the cause.
