TV Reporter
Reporter / Video Journalist – Breaking News
Location: Hamilton / Greater Toronto Area (or assignable region)
Type: Freelance / Contract / Part-Time (adjust as needed)
We are seeking experienced and confident reporters/video journalists who are comfortable delivering on-camera stand-ups, responding quickly to breaking news, and working on compelling local stories.
This role is ideal for journalists who thrive in fast-paced environments and can think clearly under pressure while maintaining strong editorial judgment.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver clear, professional on-camera stand-ups for breaking news coverage
- Research, pitch, and develop news stories
- Conduct interviews in the field
- Write scripts and story elements accurately and efficiently
- Work independently or with editors/producers as required
- Meet tight deadlines, often on short notice
Qualifications:
- Comfortable and confident on camera, including live or taped stand-ups
- Strong writing, storytelling, and interviewing skills
- Solid news judgment and understanding of journalistic standards
- Ability to respond quickly to breaking news situations
- Prior reporting or broadcast experience preferred
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends when news breaks
Assets (Nice to Have):
- Experience with video journalism or multimedia reporting
- Familiarity with local or regional news coverage
- Ability to self-shoot and/or edit (if applicable)
